Gaetano Giunta MEMBER

A theoretical physicist, he was educated at the University of Pisa and the University of Messina, where he graduated in 1983 and received his Ph.D. in 1988. For about fifteen years he carried out research in the field of statistical mechanics and the study of complex systems through theoretical methods and computer simulation, and constructed mathematical modeling to study the relationship between technology, science, society and ethics for the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei.
Since 1998, he has redirected research actions toward the physical-mathematical study of sustainable social, economic and technological systems. Contextually, he has co-designed and coordinated programs of urban metamorphosis and internationally recognized sustainable human development.
Today he is Secretary General of the Messina Community Foundation o.n.l.u.s. – Distretto Sociale Evoluto; Chairman of the Board of Founders of the Horcynus Orca Inter-University Foundation; Chairman of MECC S. C. Impresa Sociale, the first microcredit operator accredited in Italy under Art. 111 of the Consolidated Banking Act, and of the European Consortium of Ethical and Cooperative Banks (SEFEA Holding).
There are more than 50 essays and publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
