4. TECNO-KITSCH. La spettacolarizzazione digitale

This volume gathers the contributions presented at the seminar “Techno-Kitsch. Digital Spectacularization”, organized by the Insula Felix Foundation ETS with the participation of semioticians, media scholars, art historians, artists, and cultural sociologists. Its purpose is to raise the issue of aesthetic evaluation within the diverse field of digital art, where technological novelty is often appreciated simply as such.
Far from attempting to provide a definition of techno-kitsch, the aim was to sketch an approximate map of the phenomenon by connecting a potentially vast range of key concepts explored in classical literature on kitsch with the new forms these concepts take when adapted to digital modes. The goal is to initiate a systemic analysis of the potential and limits of the digital in the artistic and creative sphere, especially in light of the rapid acceleration induced by artificial intelligence and the resulting contradictions—always within the broader context of cultural dynamics.
